Event Details
During the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the Dallas Historical Society will present Declarations: America & Texas Independence, a rare exhibition of foundational American and Texas documents at the Hall of State in Fair Park from June 15 through July 17, 2026.
This exhibition will feature: An original July 4, 1776 Dunlap Broadside printing of the United States Declaration of Independence, on loan from the Dallas Public Library An 1829 reproduction of Thomas Jefferson’s draft of the Declaration of Independence The original journal of the Convention of 1836 from Washington-on-the-Brazos documenting the creation of the Texas Declaration of Independence The only known surviving original copy of General Order No. 3, the historic Juneteenth handbill announcing emancipation in Texas Presented in conjunction with DHS’s annual Juneteenth: A Celebration of Freedom exhibition, Declarations: America & Texas Independence connects the stories of American independence, Texas independence, and emancipation in Texas through some of the nation’s most significant historical documents.
